We are now accepting applicants for PSYL 2010.
Applications are assessed on a rolling basis and there is no deadline
for admissions, although we will tend to fill all spaces by early
May.

What
are we looking for...? We are often asked what qualities we look
for in participants. Although there is no specific person who is
admitted to the program, qualities that help in the application
process include:
- demonstrated
interest and involvement in social and ecological justice
-
involvement in school or community service
-
interest in world or community events
-
demonstrated leadership skills - or an interest to develop leadership
skills
-
interest in applying knowledge to future career or educational
aspirations
- interest
in new people and cultures - and living in different places
-
academic achievement is considered, but it is not required that
students excel at school

PSYL
FACILITATORS WANTED!
This year we will select 16 students,
who are either current United World College students or PSYL participants
from 2009, to take on the role of youth Facilitators in our program.
6 Reasons to be a Volunteer Facilitator at PSYL:
•
Work as part of a dynamic team of 16 facilitators,
with students from
UWCs and past PSYL participants!
• Gain excellent leadership experience
(that will also
assist you in your university applications and build your
resume!)
• Meet participants from around the world!
• Learn valuable new skills in facilitation,
conflict
resolution, group-building, and many more!
• Listen to guest speakers on a wide range
of topics,
from activism to philosophy, social justice issues to
environmentalism!
• Make a difference! Help encourage youth
to take
action about the issues that matter!
When
you Volunteer at PSYL…
• You arrange for your travel from home to Victoria and after
that all other expenses are paid, including food, accommodation,
field trips, guest speakers, activities, etc.
• You must be available from July 18th to August 13th, 2010.

UWC Students must be nominated from their School Director.
