Facilitator Program
We are now accepting Facilitator Applications for PSYL 2012!
Volunteer Facilitator positions are open to current United World College students and to PSYL Alumni from PSYL 2010 or PSYL 2011. A total of 16 Facilitators will be selected.
Current UWC Students: Deadline for applications is March 1st, 2012. Submit your application to your UWC Director or other designated person coordinating applications on your campus. You must be nominated by your school, so please discuss with them prior to submitting application.
PSYL Alumni: Deadline for applications is March 15th, 2012. Submit your application directly to Ruth Whyte, Director of the PSYL (see application form for instructions).
Six Reasons to be a volunteer Facilitator at PSYL:
- Work as part of a dynamic team of 16 Facilitators, with students from UWCs and past PSYL participants.
- Gain excellent leadership experience (that will also assist you in your university applications and build your resume.)
- Meet participants from around the world.
- Practice valuable new skills in facilitation, conflict resolution, group-building, and more.
- Learn from inspiring educators and guest speakers on a wide range of topics, from activism to philosophy, social justice issues to environmentalism.
- Make a difference! Help encourage youth to take action about the issues that matter.
When you volunteer as a Facilitator at PSYL:
- You must pay for your own travel to Victoria, BC. After that all other expenses are covered, including food, accommodation, training, program activities, and transfers to/from the airport in Victoria.
- You must be available for the whole duration of the program- July 17th to August 12th.
- UWC Students must be nominated from their School Director. Please discuss this with your Director before submitting application.
- Facilitators receive a week of training, from July 17th to 22nd, then they assist the program staff in running the program for 80 youth participants, from July 23rd to Aug 12th.
