What is a typical day at PSYL like?

PSYL is an intensive experiential program but we aim for a balanced approach to each day. No one wants to sit indoors all day on a beautiful summer day, but we also know that people who choose to come to PSYL usually want to challenge themselves and to experience life to the fullest. So we design each day to attend to all the different aspects of ourselves.

Each day we create distinct time for:

  • Being together as a community, to create and shape what is to come.
  • Engaging in workshops sessions that challenge our thinking.
  • Experiencing simulations that give us a deeper understanding for the program themes.
  • Physical fitness and play.
  • Quiet reflection outdoors.
  • Social and cultural activities.

Although everyday is slightly different, here is what a sample day might look like:

7 am Optional Recreation: Kayaking on Pedder Bay and Yoga in the spiritual centre
7:45 am Breakfast
9:00 - 9:45 am Community Building: Energizer and trust activities, community announcements and issues discussion.
10:00 - 12:00 pm Workshop “Visioning Community”: What kind of world is possible? How can youth help create and BE that change?
